Ultrasound Organ Examination
Ultrasound is the most popular and widespread disease examination method to illustrate body interior.
In our ultrasound lab we perform these ultrasound examinations:
- abdominal cavity
- testicles
- scrotum
- pleura
- orthopaedic: hip joints, knee joints, shoulder joints etc...
- nipples
- salivary glands
- thyroid
- subcutaneous tissue (lipomas, fibromas)
- urological
- lymph nodes
Transvaginal and abdominal ultrasounds are performed in Gynaecological-Obstetrical Clinic.
Goal of the examination:
With the use of ultrasound we are able to determine the size, shape and structure of abdominal cavity organs such as: liver, gallbladder, bile ducts, pancreas, spleen, kidneys, bladder (when filled). Abdominal cavity ultrasound is recommended when there are irregularities in laboratory examinations, pain in the abdominal area, difficulties with urination or defecation and other worrying symptoms. Examination can detect presence of deposits, tumours, inflammations or birth defects.
It is also a method to illustrate thorax organs. Indication to perform ultrasound are inflammatory diseases, lung and pleura cancer, traumatic changes, pleura fluid determination, confirming radiological changes, incorrect structures within thorax, diaphragm or mediastinum.
Ultrasound examination allows to assess enlarged or disease changed lymph nodes, determine size, shape, place and structure of thyroid, assess size of salivary glands and differentiate the cause of their enlargement (inflammation, tumours, lithiasis).
Indications to examination are changes in mammary glands e.g. tumours detected with palpation examination or diagnosis of changes detected during mammography. Breast ultrasound is also performed prophylactically especially with younger women.
Examination is also performed in cases of hydrocele, testicle and epididymis tumour, seminiferous cysts, varicocele, testicles or scrotum pains, abnormal elastic kernel palpation (tumours).
Diagnostic of minor or cancer like prostatic changes is the goal of this examination. Palpation changes of unknown origin and subcutaneous tissue bumps are indication to perform it.
Equipment:
Examination is performed with an innovative Japanese high class ultrasonograph ALOKA ProSound ALPHA 6.
Advanced technology affects speed and reliability of conducted ultrasonograph examinations and allows to observe flows and vascularization of tissue with accuracy unreachable so far even with contrast measures.
